Faith-Based Programme

Newry and Mourne Co-operative and Enterprise Agency’s Dr Conor Patterson formed a partnership with former Victims Commissioner Brendan McAllister and Professor Duncan Morrow, bringing decades of experience in facilitating peace and reconciliation together to deliver the Growing Leadership which will Unite Everyone programme.

 

GLUE, a Faith Based Programme is a Peace IV initiative focused on promoting good relations in the east trans-frontier region with a particular emphasis on the relationship between law enforcement bodies and faith communities.

This project supported by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) have appointed Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency to build a new model of 21st century community consensus against the backdrop of apparently growing estrangement between communities of different faith and political traditions.

Two ‘Good Relations Circles’ GRC’s will be established each year over a three year period, five of which will be area specific covering, Newry, South Armagh, Mid Down, East Down and South Down, with the remaining GRC being Newry & Mourne wide.

Each GRC will explore and reflect on the following themes:

  • Understanding Society
  • Understanding Conflict
  • Curiosity
  • The Creative Mindset
  • Understanding Risk
  • Positive Action
  • Implementation & Sustainability
